
For all those of you who want to explore the beauty of Koh Samui, of course you will find only the two most famous beaches, Chaweng Beach and Lamai Beach. Although there are many more than those two, this article will give you a little introduction about the Areas on Koh Samui and what’s favorite stuff can be found on those areas.

The Ang Thong Marine National Park is symbol of Thailand’s natural beauty. With 42 of its beautiful islands, located on the Central Gulf Coast of Southern Thailand, only less than two hours north west of Koh Samui.
The word Angthong in thai translate to ‘golden bowl, with is area size of 250 sq km of which 50 sq km of those are fascinating limestone islands and karsts topography which is above the clear blue sea in varies formations.
Many people kayaking are to find caves, hidden lagoons and crystal clear white sand beaches among the islands. Snorkeling is also popular as the underwater world is filled with natural rich marine lives, whales, dolphins and many more!

Lipa Noi beach is a good choice for parents who come with kids and have a car. It is the closest beach to Samui’s main pier and the white sand beach has no coral or rocks anywhere insight, neither in the water. What’s also perfect for kids is that the water is shallow for a very far distance, up to 100 meters, this give rooms for your children to play and fool around without having their parents worrying.
It might be quite far from the heart of Samui like Chaweng, but it is not without restaurants! Many famous restaurants of Koh Samui are also in this area so you will find yourself still with plenty of choices nearby.
Although the full scale activities are quite rare in this area, this place is preferred by regulars who want to have their peace and relaxation. If you are the nightlife fun loving type, this area might not be for you.

Taling Ngam is far from anywhere on Koh Samui, the closest town is 20-30 minutes away, even further if you are looking to go to Chaweng, its an hour drive.
With that said, it is also one of Samui’s most beautiful and quite beach. Not many if not no resort are located on this beach apart from a few cheap bungalows. But the view is fantastic, you can see the beauty of the Ang Thong Marine Park from this beach.
It is something worth coming if your looking for a quite relaxing time where there isn’t anybody that will disturb your time.
Namuang is not so famous for beaches, but rather it is the place that hosts 2 of Samui Top attractions.
The first one is the Samui Namuang Safari Park. Here you can find many tropical wild animals, like crocodiles, elephants, and monkeys. At the Namuang Safari Park are amazing shows of crocodiles and elephants where you can’t find anywhere on the Koh Samui.

The second place is the Namuang Waterfall. This beautiful waterfall is sourrounded by coconut plantations and varies fruit farms of local people. During the raining season, with more water, the waterfall is mos beautiful. There are two Namuang Waterfalls, but tourists tend to go the the first Namuang Waterfall because it is a lot easier to reach as its connected to the main road. Other than that there are elephant trekking tours to the site which is also some of Samui’s most favorite activities.

Maret is the south western area of Samui, very famous is the Lamai beach. This beach is the second most popular beach area, second to Chaweng. Many 5 star resorts are located here, including vast variety of restaurants. Nightlife is also popular in Lamai “town”. Lamai beach has somewhat rocky parts, the beach but it is still one very beautiful beach.

What’s even more famous than Lamai Beach is the Hin Ta Hin Yai attraction, the most famous attraction of Samui, many say “You haven’t been to Samui if you haven’t been to Hin Ta Hin Yai”.
Hin Ta Hin Yai, which translates to Grandpa’s (Ta) Rock (Hin) and Grandma’s(Yai) Rock (Hin), is a very unique formation of rock that can be found nowhere else. In Thailand everything is possible and these rocks looks just like male and female genitalia.

The Bo Phut Area is probably the most crowded and lively area of Koh Samui. It has to famous beaches in the area, which is the Chaweng Beach and Bo Phut Beach.
Bo Phut has two sections so to speak, the section that is between the Mae Nam Beach and the Big Buddha, and the Fisherman’s Village section which is around the center part of the beach.

Fisherman’s village is very famous and becoming more famous day by day, it has a name for being the island’s oldest and well preserved location. The Fisherman’s Village on Koh Samui is a village built lone time ago and the shops and houses are still have the same look until today. It gives you the feeling of the old colonial era, as these building were built when the french had an outpost here.

Another area that can’t be forgotten: Chaweng Beach. It is by far the most lively and active area among all areas and beaches on Koh Samui. Chaweng has more hotels and recreational services than anywhere else on Koh Samui, this include at night when most tourists come to Chaweng to have a fun night. The choices of entertainment is simply a lot! You have choices between many fully packed pubs, dance bars, even girly bars. Koh Samui’s most popular bar is the Tropical Murphy’s Irish pub, it is located on the southern side of the road right opposite McDonald’s.

Mae Nam is the favorite beach area for backpackers, it offers a stunning view of the Phangan Island, the place where the Full Moon Party is taking place avery month. The beach is quite private in comparison to the Chaweng which is very close by. Many visitors and tourists stay here for the longer term, weeks or maybe months, this is because Mae Nam is perfect for that. Many variety for affordable good bungalows.

Meanwhile, not only cheap bungalows, on the eastern end of the beach 5 star resorts and famous restaurants fill the area. Famous Thai cuisines like the Royal Thai Cuisine or the famous Pansea Napasai. Many relaxation spa and massage services are also located there. All in all, Mae Nam is very close to the attractions like Chaweng Beach, meanwhile also quite and peaceful, it is a great choice for both tourists with low budget, or those who prefer a more luxurious stay!
